How Traditional Cigarettes are Bad for the Environment
Smoking has always been harmful to the health of both passive and active smokers. Millions of people are losing their lives every year because of it. Smoking related diseases are never easy to take care of especially when ignored for a long time. The effects of cigarette to the environment are another topic that is currently trending. This article is going to focus on the scary details about how cigarettes can seriously damage the environment.
Air pollution comes in first on the list of the harmful effects of cigarette smoking. Almost everybody even the smokers themselves know about this fact. Smoking alone does not pollute the air. The air produced during the curing process of tobacco also cause air pollution. Cigarette smoke in itself contains over six thousand different chemicals. With that said, you can only imagine how harmful the chemical should be to the environment. Global warming which leads to climate change is also brought about by the pollution of air though cigarette smoking plus much more. Overall, it is true to sat that cigarette smoking is not and will never be a friend to the air we breathe.
Aside from air pollution, cigarette smoking is also a notorious cause of fire outbreaks at homes forests and even work places. When such incidences occur, animals ,vegetation and man suffer.
Cigarette butts also pollute our precious oceans. The toxins that come with the butts are not safe for aquatic life. There was once a study conducted that reported that cigarette has the ability to kill half the fish in the ocean. With that said, you can only imagine the dangerous effects it will have on the environment as a whole.
Traditional cigarette smoking is also very harmful to our dear lands. Did you know that cigarette butt is by far the number one items discarded as trash all over the world? What makes it even worse is that they are non-biodegradable. With the toxins and chemicals that cigarette butts boast of, it is not wrong to state that we are not safe at all.
Tobacco smoking is also an enemy to our natural soil. Tobacco leaches the soil of natural occurring nutrients and mineral responsible for native plant growth. Therefore, we will not be able to enjoy the benefits that come with having plants around. In the end, this will be harmful to the native environment, flora and fauna. All the chemicals released to the land by tobacco may lead to the breakdown of the ozone layer and soon nobody will be safe on earth.
